Tar Paper Construction

Number of Sessions:  Three 3-hour sessions

Description:
The goal of this class is to teach participants how to use tar paper to assist in hand building slab constructed forms.  Students will learn how to throw a slab,  create a design for a form and make a paper maquette, how to cut out tar paper patterns and attach them to the clay.
Students will complete a slab and tar paper constructed vase or similar form.

Materials:

• Clay of choice
• Basic clay tools including a scoring tool and clay knife
• 45 degree wire tool (optional)

Class Information:

• Skill level/Pre-requisites:  Intermediate level, basic clay class, know how to wedge clay and roll out a slab
• Minimum students:  3  Maximum: 6
