Beyond Basics

Number of Sessions:        Three 3-hour sessions
Course Fee:                    $50.00

Description:

This class will appeal to students wishing to develop solid hand-building and glazing skills.  You will create and complete one hand-built project.  Instructor will discuss project selection and construction progress with each student throughout the class in an open forum format.  Whimsical architecture or creatures, platters or boxes, wall hangings or vases are appropriate for this class.  Our purpose is to encourage relatively new members to discover and explore some of the wonders of clay that lie beyond Basic Clay.    You will learn to plan a project and sketch the anticipated outcome.  We will cover working with soft through leather hard clay, how to attach pieces, mend breaks and recover from mistakes.  Many techniques will be taught including attachment of hanging hardware, proper drying and how to control it, and finally bringing your pieces to life with glazing.
