Small Hanging Totem

Course Fee: $85.00 ($80 for class, $5 for supplies provided)

Description:

Participants will work with the instructor to make separate components to put into a hanging totem. Instruction includes making various components from templates and final stringing of the totem.

Participants will learn:
- handbuilding techniques using templates
- techniques for working with stain 
- threading tips to string the independent totem pieces

• Materials: 
• Speckled Buff or Redstone clay*
• Basic handbuilding tools*
• Carving and texture tools (i.e. wipe out tool, straffito tool, dull pencil, sureform)
• Cookie cutters, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 inch (approximately)
• Hole cutter, 1/4" (or size to accommodate your parachute cord)
• *Required items. Instructor will have various tools available for your use 
   
• Provided supplies:
• 25 feet of parachute cord 
• 3/16 thimble for hanging 
• T pin for stringing

• Skill Level/pre-requisites: This class requires some confidence working with clay. Having worked with clay beyond Basic Clay is preferred.
